PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of Amphi Education Association, I wish to thank you for your dedication
to the students of our district. This has surely been one of the most difficult
years that you have experienced and yet you have given your best to our students.
They deserve nothing less. We have learned, especially this year that we alone
can not ensure a quality education. Even though yesterday was our last day of
student contact, we must continue to fight for their future. Many of you may be
aware that a Senate bill passed through the appropriations committee on Wednesday
that includes over 800 million dollars in cuts to public education. This bill
was over 90 pages and included many items that have little to do with the state
budget. This strategy allows our legislature to throw in legislation that they
may not otherwise be able to pass. The association has been extremely active in
advocating on behalf of public education and its employees. We have engaged thousands
and have worked to build community coalitions. We have managed to stall most of
these damaging cuts, but our legislators are hoping now that school is out, we will
back off. I do not intend to back off and hope that you will not either. We
need your voice and your presence at the capitol every Tuesday in June. Please
don't stop fighting for our kids, our jobs and the economic future of our state.

This may sound melodramatic, but our future depends on it!
Sincerely,
